And this is what's been happening--
We live in the foothills of the Central Valley--one of the places having an unusual amount of rain. Some folks are having a really hard time--15 have died, including a 5 year old during an attempted rescue and was washed away. Some towns are completely flooded, Mud slides have closed many roads, even major arteries.
We live high above the river that runs down and evntually empies into a lake--which is now full. Some folks who live in the higher elevations are closed off because roads are closed. Two bridges that connect folks who live across the river are impassable. There is another way to the main highway with yet another bridge to cross and there's been some mud slides.
Our only big problem is the roof leaking in my office--right over my two desks. We have big tarps covering everyhing. When I want to work on my computer--like now--I have to pull one of the tarps back.
One of my grandsons came over and did a quick fix--but no one is sure if it will hold through the expected coming storms. Son has promised to do a permanent fix in April--assuming all will be dry by then.
Haven't worked on my latest book much, 30,000 plus words so far. Have had too many other jobs--ones that pay money.
Because hubby and I no longer drive--for good reasons--we have to rely on relatives to take us here and there when needed. This keeps us homebound much of the time. We do go out to eat at least once a week, and to church every Sunday. Hubby is quite happy to stay home and watch TV. Me, not so much.
For two old folks, we are doing pretty well.
Looking forward to having more joy in the comming months.
Marilyn
