Planning for Future Events

Planning for what I'll be doing in the area of promotional events always takes up a great deal of my time. I'm planning into next year.

There's a big complication though--my granddaughter got engaged last week and is planning her wedding for next spring. She doesn't have a date yet which means I better be very, very careful about what things I sign up for. Right now I'll just avoid anything that happens from April through June. Hopefully I'll know the exact date before we start planning for PSWA's conference in 2010 since this year's is in June.

For this April I have two book fests/festivals--a small one in the city of Hanford and the enormous L.A. Book Festival on the UCLA campus. I received an application for Exeter's Fourth of July Celebration in the Park and I'll be signing up for that. I'll also be teaching the Yosemite Romance Writers how to write a mystery.

First Saturday in May I'm talking to the SAn Joaquin Sisters in Crime in Fresno--my chapter. I'll be talking about electronic publishing on the third Saturday to the Writers of Kern. The following week we'll be heading for the airport to go to Omaha and Mayhem in the Midlands.

Oh, I have other dates set up for the coming months, but that's enough to think about right now.

And sprinkled here and there are doctors' appointments, an ex-daughter-in-law's wedding, a community spaghetti dinner, another spaghetti dinner fund raiser for our church's youth group, and of course shopping, running errands and all the mundane activities that keep a household running.

And did I mention, somewhere in there I need to be working on my next book?

Wow, Marilyn. You are one busy lady. I admire writers like you who organize their time so well.

This year is a calmer year for me. I'm presenting at one writer's conference, editing a novel and negotiating a movie deal. Oh and soon I'll be starting another novel. But very few events for me. I can use the break. :-)
