PSWA Conference, My Favorite
It is definitely time to be thinking about writing conferences and there are many out there to choose from. I know I've, attended lots--big ones and small.
I've been with PSWA for a long while now, joining it when it was called the Police Writers Club. At that time nearly all the members were police officers or former police officers. I asked to be allowed in as someone who wrote about police officers. At that time I concentrated on my Rocky Bluff P.D. series and I wanted to learn as much about those in law enforcement as possible.
As time went on, the group reorganized, changed its name so that it could incorporate those in any public safety field and those who wrote about them. This change was definitely a good one.
The yearly conference is small though it has grown over the years and many of the speakers come from the membership since our members have a wealth of first-hand information about FBI, police, government law enforcement agencies, dispatchers, fire fighters, etc. We do have some speakers with expertise from outside our ranks too.
One of my favorite things about this conference is you really can interact with all these experts.
If you are interested here is some more information about registering etc. Peruse the whole website and see what we're all about.
