Patricia Gligor Answers My Questions

Patricia Gligor’s Responses to Marilyn Meredith’s Questions

Patricia at the Launch for Mixed Messages
1.      What are your writing goals?

My dream goals or my realistic goals? My dream goals include seeing my books on bestseller lists across the country and having them made into movies. My realistic goals are to continue to write books for my Malone mystery series and to write some standalone mystery novels. I have one in particular in mind. It’s based on a short story I wrote several years ago.

2.      Are there other goals you have – such as something on your bucket list – I’d be surprised to hear about?

Yes. I love to travel and I love the Spanish language. Since I’ve already been to Puerto Rico and Mexico, my bucket list includes trips to a few Latin American countries. I’m also a lighthouse enthusiast and the ocean is my favorite place to go so, of course, more trips to the coast/s are on my list too.

3.      What is the hardest thing about the writing life?

The hardest thing for me is finding the time to accomplish everything I want to do. Writing, blogging and promoting all take huge blocks of time and I don’t usually have nearly as much time to devote to them as I’d like. To me, it’s ironic that “life” gives us the material to write about but “life” often takes away from our time to write.

4.      Do you enjoy blogging? Why or why not?

I do. I especially enjoy getting to know the writers (like you, Marilyn) and the readers I “meet” on my blog and on the blogs I visit.

5.      What are you working on right now?

My current project is the third novel for my Malone Mystery series. I hope to have it completed by the end of summer. Like the first two books, Mixed Messages and Unfinished Business, the story takes place on the west side of Cincinnati in what appears to be a peaceful, safe neighborhood.

Patricia Gligor is a Cincinnati native. She enjoys reading mystery/suspense novels, touring and photographing old houses and traveling. She has worked as an administrative assistant, the sole proprietor of a resume writing service and the manager of a sporting goods department but her passion has always been writing fiction. Mixed Messages and Unfinished Business are the first two novels in her Malone Mystery series. Both are available at amazon.com, postmortem-press.com and B&N.

Comments

Marilyn,
Thanks for inviting me to be here today.
Found your comment about life and time right on the mark, Patricia!

I enjoyed the interview, but have a question: how does a gal from Ohio fall in love with lighthouses?

I share the time shortage problem, too! But it's better to be too busy than to be bored.
So glad you're here today, Patricia. And I do agree about there not being enough time.
Kaye,
That's an interesting question. I think it stems from exactly that: I'm from Cincinnati where the closest ocean is ten hours away and the closest lighthouse is about five hours from here on Lake Erie. I grew up never having seen either one. Once I did, well, it was love at first sight!
What a fun interview! Good questions, Marilyn. And Patricia, it's nice getting to know more about you. I see we share a love of the Spanish language. As a former Spanish teacher, I love visiting places where I have the opportunity to speak it.
I forgot to say "Hi" to Melodie earlier. Thanks for stopping by.

Marilyn L.,
I'm sure you're a lot more proficient in the Spanish language than I am. I'm sorry to say I've let mine slip - no one to practice with and too much other stuff to do. Like you, I love to travel to places where I have the opportunity to speak the language. I'll have to practice a lot more before I go again though. :)

I agree with Melodie about your comment about life and time being right on the mark! This was cool, five questions asked and answered and I feel I know you much better :)
Thanks!
Chris,
Wouldn't it be great if we had more time - and money? :)

Fine questions, Marilyn. Great answers, Pat. I share your feelings, even about lighthouses.

I like this format, Marily and Patricia! It gives me an insider's peek at the author.

Isn't it ironic indeed that "life" gives us writing material and simultaneously keeps us from writing!!!

Loved learning more about you, and I share your feelings about the beach. However, I grew up about an hour from the ocean, and I used to go there to find peace. : )

Patricia, always great hearing from you! And, YES, looking for your name on best seller lists across the country! Why not, go for it... You have the talent, just need a little luck.

Madeline
Well, I was gone for a few hours this afternoon and I came back to find so many wonderful comments. Thank you John, Marta and Marja!
And Madeline, from your lips to God's ears!

I really enjoyed these questions and answers, Marilyn and Patricia. Always learn more about my colleagues in these interviews, which is great. Re lighthouses, you have to come to the east coast. We have lots of them!
Eileen,
Actually, most of the lighthouses I've seen have been on the east coast from Rhode Island down to Florida. (Still haven't been to Maine.) I have photos of each and every one! My favorite is the Cape Lookout lighthouse on the Outer Banks.

That was a fun and interesting interview, Pat. Now that I've read Mixed Messages, I'm looking forward to reading Unfinished Business. But right now I'm enjoying Marilyn Meredith's No Bells. You ladies are such talented writers, and it's been great getting to know you both better.
Evelyn,
A big thanks, Evelyn! I know you're going to love Marilyn's "No Bells" and I hope you enjoy "Unfinished Business."
