Just Thought I'd Ask a Few Questions
On another blog that I post on regularly, one of the other regulars decided to ask all the readers of that blog a few questions. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing here--and from time to time.
Here are the questions and my answers:
1. What was your first paying job?
Babysitting.
2. What was your favorite paying job?
I had several, but I think I loved the ten years I spent as a teacher to pre-schoolers with developmental disabilities the best. That job opened doors for other jobs that followed.
3. What was the first concert you ever attended?
I am not really a concert going person. I went to several L.A. Philharmonic concerts as a school kid--but the first and only pop concert was when I was a young teen and got to see a very young Frank Sinatra at a special program just for teens at the May Co. in downtown Los Angeles.
4. What do you do that makes you feel young?
Hang out with my younger friends. I have a bunch of them. Some are friends from church, others are writers, and I have one friend who watches General Hospital and we like to talk about it on the phone.
Now your turn--answer my 4 questions please .

What was the first concert I went to? The Beatles
What do I do that makes me feel young? I pretend I'm a little red fire truck. Doesn't everyone?

Plamaltas, being with my grands and greatgrands is great--but doesn't make me feel young, mainly because I can't do things with them I could have when I was younger. Thanks for your answers.
Favorite job is being a cop.
My first concert was Sonny and Cher.
And having friends of all ages. The young ones keep me engaged with life and the ones older always make me feel young and show me I have a lot left to live
My favortie paying job: My current profession- Speech Language Pathologist. I think I have a passion for my work and for my students.
My first concert: Probably something at the fair grounds but what I really remember is when I started dating Mark he took me to Travis Tritt (country artist) @ Universal Ampitheater and then he got out of a speeding ticket on the way home. I couldn't believe it.
What makes me feel young: When I exercise. I still surprise myself how strong and coordinated I am.
Favorite paying job: E-Systems Garland as a software engineer for eight years after college
First concert: Paul Simon solo, at McFarlin Auditorium at SMU with my best friend Ann. (We were 15.) We had front-row tickets because when I went to get the tickets and looked SO SAD about how far back we'd have to sit, the lady there pulled out two front-row tickets and sold them to me. I wish digital cameras had been around!! It was an "unplugged" intimate visit concert!
What makes me feel young: Certainly not reminiscing like this--I'm older than dirt. Let's see . . . y'know, I never feel old, although I know I am. When I'm answering trivia questions and beating the tar out of the youngsters in the room, that's good. When I'm writing a YA novel, I channel my main POV character, so that makes me feel fourteen!
Favorite Paying Job: Law Enforcement (clerical). It was both interesting and fun.
First Concert: We didn't have concerts where I lived, but several famous rock and roll bands played at civic centers and places like that. I went to several and saw the Olympics, The Rightous Bros. (I think it was their first public appearance), and the coasters. We got to dance to their music instead of sitting and watching.
Young: I believe youth is a state of mind, so I try to think young.
Marja McGraw
Favorite paying job: Grounds keeper
1st Concert: Sacramento Symphony - Beethoven (My mother took me when I was 14 yr old. Dressed up with shawls she hand crocheted.)
Do to make me feel young: Go to lake (with granddaughter) and wade along the shore and pick up rocks.
What was my favorite paying job? Publishing the Tule River Times, hands down!
What was the first concert I went to? The Herman's Hermits! hahaha! My favorite was The Doors!
What do I do that makes me feel young? Hang out with my kids and grandbabes. Oh, and put on my make-up, which I call "bondo." ;-)
Valeri--I loved it when you published the Tule River Times and I wrote articles for you.
My favorite paying job is the one I have now - part time school bus driver. Leaves me lots of time for writing and I happen to like kids. Most of them. Maybe I've come full circle and I'm back to baby-sitting.
Went to a lot of concerts and don't remember in which order - Elvis, Sammy Davis, Jr., Johnny Mathis, and Peter, Paul and Mary come to mind.
To feel young, I try not to look in mirrors and keep in mind that I'll never grow old because I'll never grow up.
