AN AX TO GRIND--a bit of the back story

I have the San Joaquin Sisters in Crime chapter to thank for this one.

The idea for An Ax to Grind was given to me by the Fresno County Coroner who was our speaker at a meeting. He had gross slides to show, and was taking great delight in presenting them to all of us women. I know he though he was grossing us out--but I for one was busily taking notes. And none of my fellow members had any trouble eating lunch when he was through.

The most ghastly slide was that of  man's head in the middle of a dining room table--and that's where my story begins.

And before you think this book might be too gruesome for you, I've had people tell me that they laughed out loud in parts.

Of course, the usual characters inhabit the pages and help solve the crimes.

An Ax to Grind has been re-edited. I think it's a good edition to the series. If you haven't read it  yet, I hope you'll try it.
