My Best Selling Book--Cooking for a Big Family and a Large Crowd by Marilyn Meredith

The cookbook started out as two that I printed with my computer and sold to others like me who owned and ran licensed care homes for persons with developmentally disabled.

I cooked or prepared 3 meals almost every day of the week for my family and the sometimes six women who lived with us. Usually there were more people at dinner time as for several years we had grandkids who lived with us, and sometimes they brought guests.

I always had to be sure I'd have enough food. I got bored cooking the same things so I did a lot experimenting. I cut recipes out of magazines. I never served anything exotic with strange ingredients, only meals that I knew everyone would like.

I ended up creating a second one too.

I sold a lot of the books that I three-hole punched and put together with brads. I did offer it on Amazon too--but over the years I forgot about both books.

My friend Lorna Collins found the books and suggest they be re-published on Amazon. She did all the hard work, editing, putting both cookbooks together in publishable form and putting them on Amazon in both paperback and for Kindle. Her husband, Larry, designed the cover.

That's their wonderful table setting. My table is round with a built in lazy Susan.

I'm still cooking for a crowd and still trying new recipes. The crowd is my husband, my granddaughter and her husband and their three kids, my daughter-in-law and my son when he's home from his job. And we always have guests on holidays.

The book doesn't have slow-cooker recipes, but some could easily be adapted.

I have to confess, sometimes I do cook already prepared foods because I don't have the energy I once had. But, I'm still trying out new recipes that I find, and increasing the ingredients so the meal will feed lots of people.

I have no idea how to cook for two.

I had fun creating the cookbooks, gave many a lot of eating pleasure. It's gratifying to see that people are buying it.  Here's the link:
