Countdown to Christmas

The reason we celebrate is depicted above--the birth of Jesus Christ.

We all celebrate in different ways, and our celebrations have changed many times over the years.

I used to love shopping for gifts for my family, but my family grew and grew until it became impossible to buy gifts for everyone. Now it's just my four remaining children and the ones we draw names for who come to our house on Christmas Eve.

But that's changing this year too. Our granddaughter and family are going to try something new--going camping for Christmas--so no little little kids to watch unwrapping gifts on Christmas morning.

And that will make our Christmas Eve gathering even smaller, since daughter Lisa and Henry are going to spend it up north with their daughter Merenda and her family. We'll still have son and wife, grandson Nick, his wife Crystal and the two boys. Always fun to spend time with them.

I'll write about some of our other traditions in later blog posts.

No matter how you celebrate Christmas or another holiday, may it be wonderful and full of love.
