PSWA Post Mortem-Saturday

We opened the day with Dave Freedland telling us all about SWAT training and some of the missions his team handled. Most enlightening.

Next was the panel, Publishers' Corner. Moderator Michelle Perin Callahan, with Austin and Denise Camacho, Geno Munari, Jo Wilkins, and Rick Ollerman. This is always a popular panel.

Mike Black gave a great presentation on The Battle Between Showing and Telling something new writers all need to hear and seasoned writers being reminded.

The Author and Editor Relationship was moderated by Austin Camacho, with Sarah Cortez, Jo Wilkins, Barbara Hodges, Susan Tuttle and Rick Ollerman not always agreeing--which makes for interesting observation.

I moderated Writing Historicals and it was a fun one with Ann Parker and Catherine McGreevy bothe writing historical set in Victorian times (one in England, the other in the mountains of Colorado), and John Schembra and Bob Haig who wrote about closer historical events--John's book is about the Vietnam war and Bob Haig's about a not too terribly long ago incident with the fire department.

Writing Action Scenes was the last panel of the day with Michael Black moderating, and Bill Rapp, Dave Freedland, Gloria Casla, Jim Hasse, James L'Etoile, and Jim Guigili discussing different types of action and what is real and what is not as seen on TV and in movies. Lots of exciting stories.

We closed the day with the Old Time Radio Play, "The Adventure of the Smoking Informant."

As always, this was great fun with several attendees taking the many parts--over acting, yes, and hilarious!

A great day!

Marilyn
