Melanie Atkins, PSWA Member and Mystery Writer

Marilyn: First, tell me how you found out about PSWA. Melanie: I found the organization online. I don't really remember how, but I was intrigued to have found a group of writers from the field of public safety. Marilyn: Will you tell me and my readers a bit about your background? Melanie: I'm a multi-published author of suspense and romantic suspense, the former wife of a police officer, and an avid reader. Writing is more than an escape for me-it's a way of life. I grew up in the Deep South listening to tall tales, and that love of storytelling must have rubbed off on me. I'm fascinated by crime fiction, and in an effort to learn more I've completed two local Citizen's Police Academies and attended many conferences with law enforcement sessions taught by professionals, including Forensic University sponsored by the St. Louis chapter of Sisters in Crime.
