Lingering Spirit is a tale told straight from my heart. Though I fictionalized happenings and characters greatly, the story is loosly based on the time when my deputy sheriff son-in-law was killed in the line of duty. He'd been a police officer for 15 years before transferring to another area and becoming a deputy. After only 6 months, he was killed in a traffic accident. My daughter was widowed with three young sons. I didn't write the book for a long time afterwards--but when I did it became a part of my healing process. All this happened a long time ago. My daughter has since remarried, had another child who is now an adult. However, we all cherish the time we had with my son-in-law. Lingering Spirit won an Epic award for best book in the supernatural category.
