Oh, My Nothing Like Great Grands Graduation to Make you Feel Old

Image
We've had three big graduations this year-- and they are our great-grandchildren. Olivia Van Scoy graduated from high school in Temecula. In the photo she's with her cousins, Peyton, her aunt Genie (granddaughter) and Garrett. She is my oldest grandson's daughter. Of course they are both great-grands and moving through school and life far too quickly. The second graduation was from our great-granddaughter, Kay'Lee Meredith who graduated from 8th grade. She also gave the final speech. Kay'Lee is our youngest son's oldest granddaughter. She is in the blue dress in the front of the group photo--and that's everyone who came to the graduation, both sides of the family. And the third is Ethan Van Scoy, Olivia's little (only because he's younger than she, take a look at their photo below) brother also from the 8th grad. My, oh, my. And as the grow, we've had new great-grands and great-grands added to our family too.

June is the Month for Change

A lot of people marry in June, one of the biggest transitions in life. This year, we don't have any June weddings to go to. Graduations probably are the next on the list. My oldest great grandson graduated from high school already at the end of May and my youngest grandaughter is graduating this month. We also have a great-granddaughter graduating from middle school. We've had quite a few grandchildren and two greats graduate from our little Springville School. Graduations are held outside and you better get there early is you want to have a seat anywhere near the front. We have another great-granddaughter in 2-3 grade in this same school, so we'll have another graduation to look forward to a few years down the road. For us, the closest thing to a change in June will be going on a vacation out of state. I'll be writing more about that in the next few days. Marilyn http://fictionforyou.com

Isn't She a Cutie?

This is my youngest great grandchild, Jaslyn, named for her daddy, Jason. The photo was taken at her cousin's graduation from 8th grade. We all had to sit on hard chairs outside facing the grassy area where the graduation took place. The deal is because the audience is facing west, the graduation does not begin until the sun goes down behind the hill. That's the way it's been for every graduation I've been to at our little school, beginning with my niece's graduation. After that we went one year to a grandson's, and the next to his brother's graduation. Both boys lived with us at the time, and what a relief it was to see them receive their diplomas. (Both boys are grown now--and yes, got their high school diplomas and live on their own.) Next came our granddaughter, who also lived with us during the week so she could go to that school. Her family later moved next door to us, so we went to her soccer games in high school and celebrated her high school graduat...
