Devil's Foothold, Christian Horror

In the spirit of the season, I'm letting you know about the books I've written in the horror genre. This is another one that started out as a Deputy Tempe Crabtree novel--but veered off on it's own and turned out to be more of a Christian horror than a mystery. http://www.amazon.com/The-Devils-Foothold-ebook/dp/B009R7DZ1S/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1377973964&sr=1-1&keywords=The+Devil%27s+Foothold Resident Deputy Jessica McGuire’s day starts much the same as usual, but when she jogs by the old family cemetery she discovers the grave of a baby had been dug up and the skeleton missing. It wasn’t much later when Pastor David Tanner reports the theft of a hand-carved redwood cross from his church. Next a baby goat is reported stolen and one of the pastor’s cows discovered mutilated in the field. Jessica and Pastor David team up to investigate these strange occurrences. He is convinced Satan worshiping is going on in their town. Jessica isn’t ...

Deeds of Darkess, a YA Christian Horror Novel

To buy on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=deeds%20of%20darkness%20by%20Marilyn%20Meredith My sister and I were horror movie fanatics for a long time--until they changed from being scary into plotless gory messes. Often when watching the kind I enjoyed, which often had demonic themes, I'd think too bad the hero or heroine isn't a Christian. So of course in this horror novel, the main character, a teenaged girl, is a Christian--and she ends up being the only one able to battle the evil that takes over the small town of Yokut Springs. It was available years ago, but never on Kindle. This was one of those books that I loved writing, because the whole story came so easily. Yes, it has its gory places too--because I lot of bad things happen in this book. I think you'll cheer on the heroine as she takes on an enormous task. Marilyn

Introducing The Devil's Foothold.

For the first time I have a Kindle book available that I sort of did myself. I've been reading about all these authors putting their books up on Kindle, and especially those who had books they couldn't find a publisher interested in it. I had a book like that. When I finished it, I sent it out to various publishers and though I always got good reports on the writing the rejections from the main stream publishers all said something along the lines of, "It's a little too Christian for our readers." So I sent it out to Christian publishers and received the same kind of rejection, "It's a great story but far too scary for our readers." I liked the story and ended up self-publishing it with an outfit that turned out to not only be a bit on the crooked side (I really know how to pick them) but not all that savvy in the publishing business. The manuscript has been idling in an old word-processing program for years--until I decided to take a look...

Alcoholism

Do not read if you expect to be entertained. This past week a young woman who was only in her late thirties and I counted as a friend passed away from complications due to alcoholism. She was addicted to Vodka. She had five children, the last born a little over a year ago. Her eldest daughter, who is grown and living on her own, has been caring for the youngest one ever since she was born because of the mother’s illness. And alcoholism is an illness as well as an addiction. I know this young woman’s mom, her husband (who is an alcoholic too and spends a lot of time in jail for drunk driving), and the children. The eldest son has managed to find other places to live throughout his high school days, places with kindhearted souls who were willing to pay for all his needs including what it took to be on the football team. He’s turned out to be a wonderful young man, has a job with a place to stay–again thanks to kindhearted souls. Another daughter is married now and living in another state...
