Library Visit by Marilyn aka F. M. Meredith

Image
This coming Thursday, April 16th at 6 p.m. I'll be at the Porterville Library at 41 West Thurman. This is the official launch of my latest Rocky Bluff P.D. mystery, Violent Departure s.  I'm going to talk about what got me started writing police procedurals, where my ideas and characters come from, and whatever else happens to cross my mind. And yes, I'll answer any questions anyone may have. I'll have copies of this book and others in the series on hand and also the latest two books in the Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery series, for anyone who'd like to purchase one. To celebrate the occasions, I'm bringing cupcakes. No, I didn't make them--I have a good friend who is a wonderful baker who is creating her magic for this event. If you're in the area, do come and visit. Marilyn (aka F. M.) Meredith

This and That in the Life of This Author

This has been a busy, busy month. Besides the blog tour, which had a few more glitches than usual and I'll be giving some tips about what I will do differently next time, if there is a next time, I've done a lot of traveling. At least for me. The first weekend of the month, hubby and I headed over to Morro Bay--one of our most favorite places so I could join with my sisters and misters in the Central Coast chapter of Sisters in Crime. I wrote about it earlier, but the best part is always seeing my friends who live in the area. I didn't have to travel far to do a presentation in our local library, only 17 miles. I love the Porterville Library and their staff. Traveling with my daughter this time, we headed back to the coastal area and Santa Maria where I joined up with the CC chapter of Sisters in Crime again at the Santa Maria Library. This was a fast trip--but as usual, we both had a great time. It was fun to stay in the Santa Maria Inn once aga...

Porterville Library Visit

Image
Thursday, November 15, I'll be visiting the Porterville Library, 41 W. Thurman, Porterville,  from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This time I'll be downstairs, I believe. (In any case, just ask) Libraries are wonderful places--and librarians are wonderful people. What I am planning for this visit is to bring a my books and tell what inspired me to write each one. That is a question I am often asked at events like these--so thought I'd tell about each one. (The other question is do I make a lot of money--the simple answer is "no.") I am open to other questions anyone might like to ask me. I do hope to see some of you there. Marilyn Latest Deputy Tempe Crabtree mysteries:: And the Rocky Bluff P.D. crime series: Looking forward to seeing some of you. Marilyn

Library Event

A lot of things were going on this past Saturday, a Jr. Rodeo in Springville, the Tulare County Fair, a Pow Wow on the reservation--and my library event. We came early, got everything set up and the librarian and I sat down to visit. Five of one, my good friend and leader of our critique group arrived. Then another good friend. A reporter and a photographer came next. I decided it was about time for me to get up and start talking. I love telling about Deputy Tempe Crabtree and how she came to be. And it's exciting to me to explain how I incorporated the Hairy Man in this latest book called Dispel the Mist . Five young girls arrived and listened intently. When I had spoken for about a half hour another couple arrived. Turned out they'd come all the way from Fresno and their Mapquest directions led them astray. Even more interesting, they came because the husband is a friend of mine on Twitter--someone I'd never met before and learned about the event through one of my tweets ...

Gearing up the Promo for Dispel the Mist

Even though I've not yet seen the galley proofs for my latest Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery, Dispel the Mist, I'm planning the promotion for it. The cover is great, I'm hoping to get a .jpg of it soon so I can let people see it. The book is supposed to be available by September. I have not actually set the date for the launch party here in Springville, but it'll be in October and that's because other events became available for September and of course I signed on. I got invited to the Nipomo Library to be a part of their parking lot sale--which will have all sorts of things on display besides books. I'll promote like heck though in hopes that people will look for me there. That's Saturday, September 12th from 9 to 3. The Porterville Library called and asked if I'd like to come and speak for them, so I'll be doing that on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. Our family is having a reunion in Barstow at the Holiday Inn Express, the one right off the freewa...
