Another Chilling Halloween Tale--DEEDS OF DARKNESS

Image
Christian teenager Madeline Mahoney is uncomfortable participating in her best friend's witch activities, but she succumbs to peer pressure. She hopes the object of her affection, Brian, will return her feelings, so she allows Lynette to perform a love spell. When he spends time with her, Madeline regrets her actions and wonders how she will ever know if he really likes her. Spying on Lynette's mother, Madelyn learns a coven of witches has formed in what used to be her small, quiet town. Now people are being hurt and dying in ways no one can explain. Madeline and Brian must convince the adults something is dreadfully wrong. If they can’t, they must do something on their own. But since they're Christians, are they really on their own? This is geared toward YA, but anyone who likes a scary tale, will enjoy this one. The story unravels when Madeline finds out that her best friend's mother, Dian Reddick, is the High Priestess to a coven of witches. Madeline, being very active in the Christian community, finds the mere thought of witches ridiculous and refuses to believe such utter nonsense. But after watching one of the witches meetings and witnessing the initiation of their final member, she can't help but have doubts. Especially when her best friend, Lynette, convinces her that a romance spell is just what she needs to capture her long time crush, Brian.   If buying a Kindle for a teen, this might be just the book to...

The Importance of Reviews

Image
Hard as it is to admit, reviews have great importance--not just on Amazon, but everywhere. Of course I'm speaking about good reviews. I've been fortunate enough to get mostly good reviews--but not nearly enough. Does that mean not many people have read my books? I hope not. I've never been a best seller, but I do have a loyal following. And though I do write for readers who say they are anxiously waiting for the next book, whether it be a Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery (and yes, one is coming soon) or a Rocky Bluff P.D. crime novel (the next one is written just waiting for my critique group to hear it all the way through), I also write because I love my characters and want to know what is going to happen to them next. Since I am their creator, I have to write another book to find out. Not having many reviews can work against the promotion for a book in a couple of ways--too few and readers wonder why more people didn't leave their opinions. There are some promo...

Deeds of Darkess, a YA Christian Horror Novel

To buy on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=deeds%20of%20darkness%20by%20Marilyn%20Meredith My sister and I were horror movie fanatics for a long time--until they changed from being scary into plotless gory messes. Often when watching the kind I enjoyed, which often had demonic themes, I'd think too bad the hero or heroine isn't a Christian. So of course in this horror novel, the main character, a teenaged girl, is a Christian--and she ends up being the only one able to battle the evil that takes over the small town of Yokut Springs. It was available years ago, but never on Kindle. This was one of those books that I loved writing, because the whole story came so easily. Yes, it has its gory places too--because I lot of bad things happen in this book. I think you'll cheer on the heroine as she takes on an enormous task. Marilyn
