Explanation of the Many Investigative Organizations of the Department of Defense

Image
Mike Angley, a retired UAF Colonel and career Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigation (the USAF version of NCIS of TV and Mark Harmon fame). He is the author of the Child Finder trilogy. http://www.mikeangley.com/ He gave a great presentation on all the various investigative organizations within the Department of Defense--what they do and what they don't do.  They respond to all felonies, murders, rape, etc. under their jurisidiction and do some counter intelligence. Their are special operatives such as Navy Seals, Green Berets, and civilian special agents who can arrest both military and civilians. They have concealed carry authority. NCIS is all civilian. None of them have a mortuary or crime lab. The Army runs the crime lab for all services. (This means there is no Abbie or Duckie.) They all do have forensic agents. They all work together much better than they used to. Of course there was a lot more--but if you...

Child Finder: Revelation, by Mike Angley, a Review

Image
A fan of Mike's writing, I read the first two books in the series, though it is not necessary to have done so to enjoy this final one in the trilogy. There are some resemblances to the DaVinci Code in Revelation--and some very big differences. The resemblance is that the story does center around a secret that has to do with the Catholic Church. The difference is the hero, Patrick O'Donnell, an Air Force Special Agent, is a devout Catholic and a true believer. His faith is an important part of his life. He also has a gift that makes him the one who is chosen to go a special and most danger mission to rescue kidnapped twin girls who were taken to North Korea. Another difference is the danger Patrick finds himself is believable as are all the action filled events described in the story. I'm not going to give away anything, but the ending is mind-boggling and will definitely make you think. This is a thriller that is written by someone who knows what he's writ...

Today, Michael Angley is my guest. His books are fascinating--and so is he as you'll discover as you read his answers to my questions. As a retired Air Force officer, what made you decide to write novels following your first career? “I’ve always loved to write, but I postponed my long-term goals while I pursued my Air Force career. In hindsight, I think that was a good thing because it allowed me to focus on my writing with the precision it needed. I retired as a Colonel having spent 25 years as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, or OSI for short. The OSI is the Air Force version of NCIS, so I had plenty of rich experiences to inspire my writing, from running felony-level criminal investigations, as well as counterintelligence and counterterrorism operations around the world. In my last assignment, I was the Commander of OSI Region 8, at Air Force Space Command. I like to tell people, ‘If it entered or exited Earth’s atmosphere, then I had a d...
