Memories of my First Bouchercon

On Facebook I've been reading about many of my friends--those I've actually met, and others--who are attending the biggest mystery con right now. Many of them arrived yesterday and more will be flooding in.

I can't remember where the first Bouchercon hubby and I went to, but it may have been in Wisconsin. I was shocked by how many people were there. When  we'd meet someone and enjoying visiting with them, we'd never see them again.

I had one mystery published at that time and brought a few copies for the bookstore. Big surprise, when I realized that I'd make no money whatsoever if I sold one as the seller would keep 60% and I'd purchased the book at 40% off.  I learned a lot at this conference.

Because I was a complete unknown I was not on a panel. Hubby and I went to everything that we could--having to make lots of choices as there were so many going on at one time.

We learned right away that we could get a free breakfast and sustenance for lunch at the hospitality room, and feee snacks were served at the bar in the early evning.

And that's about all I remember about that first Bouchercon. I do know that hubby and I walked around whatever city where the con was being held, bceause that's what we did at all of the Bouchercon's we attended. We learned enought at this first one we attended to be better prepared for the second.

Where was #2? Not sure about that either.

We also went to Left Coast Crime cons which are big but smaller than Bouchercons.

That first mystery, The Astral Gift had a bit of a supernatural slant to it.

If you want to try it, here's the link for the Kindle edition:
