My Publishing History, Part II

Two Ways West
was written first, but was second to be published. It's another historical family saga based on my father's side of the family and their most adventurous trek to California.

This one fell into the hands of two big time crooks. First one was exposed by Preditors and Editors. Then I found another publisher who started out doing great work, book looked great, but greed overtook him and his son.

He took the money he was making and went to Las Vegas and blew it all. Because he'd burned so many authors, he was sued and went to jail for his troubles.

My dear friend, Lorna Collins, resurrected the book, we re-edited it and her hubby designed the new cover. It's available in trade paperback and on Kindle.

I was fortunate in the fact that  way back in the final stages of finishing the manuscript we visited where we now live and where my dad's family ended up as pioneers to the area--I met some of my elderly relavites who told me many interesting facts and actually showed me where many things happened, and I was able to add a lot to the story.

Of course with any tale like this it is fictionalized--however what these people did is amazing! From all sorts of traveling, they eventually went from Monterrey Mexico to Monterey CA--where they jumped ship and swam ashore.

This is available on Kindle and as a paperback.
