The tranquility of the town of Bear Creek in the Southern Sierra is disrupted by the unusual death of the owner of the local inn. Though resident Deputy Tempe Crabtree’s job is not to investigate a murder case, she feels compelled to get involved when her friend Nick Two John is arrested.  She puts the planning for her wedding aside and realized there are several people who wanted the victim dead, including his wife. As she continues to discover clues she puts her job, her wedding, and herself in danger.  

This mystery introduces Tempe, her son, Blair, her fiance Hutch, and Nick Two John. The setting is the mountain community of Bear Creek with a focus on the Inn. 

DEADLY TRAIL is the best place to start reading the series.  And if you've read all the other, I suggest you go back and read this one.

Like I do with many folks, I met Morgen through the Internet when I learned about the great interviews she does. I thought it would be fun to turn the tables on Morgen and find out something things about her, so here goes: Morgen, except for the fact that you do terrific interviews I know very little about you. Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long! The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate. This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it. I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back. Melissa is special.
