Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long!

The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate.

This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it.

I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back.

Melissa is special. Everyone loves here, young and old alike. I was in the delivery room when she was born--exciting and wonderous. I babysat her many times until her mom and dad moved to Central California. (We live there now.

When she was a teen, she came with me when I took the women in my care home to church camp, and was an unbelievable help. I couldn't have done it without her. (She was my helper for three or four years.)

She married, had three kids, and is now the grandmother of five little ones.. Her hubby is one of the pastors of our church and she is the glue that holds it all together. Somehow she manages to fill in any of the empty slots and do the many jobs that needed to be done. 

Everyone loves her, from the littlest to the oldest. 

I am looking forward to this celebration and spending some time with Melissa.

When I get home, I've been promised a chocolate birthday cake baked by my daughter-in-law.

I am blessed with a wonderful family.
