Not Being a Best-Selling Author--

Over the years I'be never been a best-selling author. Some books have sold way more than others.

One of my best sellers has been Cooking for a Big Family and Large Groups. This particular book came from two self-printed cookbooks I wrote for administrators of community care homes. Too many had a month's menu and cooked that over and over.

When I had my car home for developmentally disabled women, I got bored cooking and eating so I tried all sorts of different recipes and started collecting them. I put the first book together and sold it to other administrators.

I kept on trying new recipes and soon had enough tor a second cookbook.

This book was written before crockpots and many other new ways of cooking. It's strictly top of the stove/oven cooking. The recipes are simple and the ingredients easily obtainable--certainly not gourmet.

My good friend and editor, Lorna Collins, suggested that both cookbooks could be put together and sold as one book on Amazon. She did all the hard work and her hubby designed the cover (their dishes and setting). Once again, thank you, Lorna and Larry.

The book has sold steadily, both in print and for Kindle since it was published.

Of all my books, it's definitely the best seller.

I always smile when you mention the cookbook. I only found out about the old ones because someone offered one for sale used on Amazon. You only had hard copies left. (I think they were mimeographed!) The covers were made of construction paper, and they were stapled together. I scanned the text, but I had to go over every letter to make sure they were correct. It took a lot of work to get it formatted, but the steady sales made it worthwhile. I love the cover. (My dining table and dishes look great!) And others seem to like it.
I know it took a long time for you to do these in the format they are in now. I took them my pages to a print shop and they made the copies and punched the three holes. I think I put in all the brads.I am truly grateful, I never would have thought of it. And by the way I had those same placemats.
