Critique Group Celebrating Birthday

This is my wonderful critique group. We're celebrating the birthday of our founder, Shirley Hickman who is standing in back. From left to right, Jann, Kristi, Shirley, me and Brent.

We finished our session and were getting ready to eat the most delicious lemon cake I've ever had.

My critique group serves three purposes:

1. They are my first editor and they keep me on my toes.
2. They give me a chance to use my own editing skills.
3. They've become good friends and I look forward to spending time with them once a week.

They've listened to nearly all my books as I'm writing them, and then, God bless them, they end up buying a copy too.

I wish every author could be a part of as wonderful a critique group as I am.

Meet Morgen Bailey from the UK

Like I do with many folks, I met Morgen through the Internet when I learned about the great interviews she does. I thought it would be fun to turn the tables on Morgen and find out something things about her, so here goes: Morgen, except for the fact that you do terrific interviews I know very little about you. So here goes with my battery of questions. First, tell me something about your background, including where you live. Thank you Marilyn. I live in Middle England really; Northampton. About as far away from water as you can get (3 hours) which I don’t quite understand as I love water; every picture (actually subconsciously until a friend pointed it out) in my house contains water. Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long! The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate. This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it. I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back. Melissa is special. Everyone loves here, young and old alike. I was in the delivery room when she was born--exciting and wonderous. I babysat her many times until her mom and dad moved to Central California.
