PSWA Conference: Michael Black



Michael A. Black is going to tell us "How to Plot Your Novel in An Hour."

Michael earned a BA in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction Writing. He also is a former Army MP and for the past thirty years has been a police officer in the south suburbs of Chicago. He's the author of over forty articles ranging from police work to popular fiction and also has over thirty short stories published in various anthologies and magazines, including Ellery Queen and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.

He's had several mystery novels published also including HOSTILE TAKEOVERS.

He's been a SWAT team leader and held many other law enforcement jobs. His hobbies include weightlifting, running, and the martial arts and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. You can visit his website to learn more about him and his books at http://www.michaelablack.com

Isn't a great thing that there are so many books out there since we all have such different tastes? I'm not sure which book of Michael A. Black's your read, but the one I read was terrific! Reminded me a lot of the detective stories I first fell in love with.

That's the fun thing about being a book reviewer--sometimes you pick things up in a book that no one else does. I have to admit there have been times after I've read a book that I wondered if the people who reviewed it were relatives (lol), but overall, I'm more often in the majority opinion than not.

Like I do with many folks, I met Morgen through the Internet when I learned about the great interviews she does. I thought it would be fun to turn the tables on Morgen and find out something things about her, so here goes: Morgen, except for the fact that you do terrific interviews I know very little about you. Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long! The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate. This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it. I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back. Melissa is special.
