Mitchell Family Reunion group pic



Not everyone was here when the photo was taken, but a schedule of events was sent out and I have to give the girls in charge credit, they followed their schedule and things moved along one after another--no one had the chance to be bored.

On Saturday afternoon there was free time and a lot of the attendees took the opportunity to shop at the Outlet stores next door and I know some of the grandparents and parents did some Christmas shopping. I only went to one store and bought a new carry-on that I plan to use for Bouchercon in San Francisco. I don't want to have to pay to send any luggage for a 1 1/2 hour flight.

You've got some great photos. Family reunions are wonderful. For a while it seems people stopped having them and now they're making a big come back (at least around here).

Marilyn: I'm so happy I've had the opportunity to really become acquainted with you. For the readers of this post, I first met Madeline at a book fair in Hanford, then again at the Sisters in Crime/MWA conference in Pasadena, and she came to last year's PSWA conference, and she came to my booksigning at my family reunion in Barstow and we were next to each other at a book fair in San Luis Obispo. Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long! The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate. This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it. I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back. Melissa is special. Everyone loves here, young and old alike. I was in the delivery room when she was born--exciting and wonderous. I babysat her many times until her mom and dad moved to Central California.
