The Shine On Blog Award.

My friend Maryann Miller http://its-not-all-gravy.blogspot.com/  honored me with this lovely blog award and I want to thank her for considering my blog worthy of an award. I've known Maryann for many, many years. Besides being a wonderful writer in many areas, she also is an actress and a great promoter of little theater.

Since I always hesitate to impose rules on my blogger friends, I encourage those that I nominate to think in terms of guidelines, not rules.

The rules for this award are:

  1. Link back to and thank the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Post the badge on your blog.
  3. Answer the questions posed to you.
  4. Nominate five bloggers who shine a little light in your day and notify them.
  5. Ask five questions for your nominees.
I passed the award onto M. M. Gornell who is also known as Madeline and a great friend--though I met her on the Internet, we've since been together in person on many occasions, including being roommates at Left Coast Crime. http://mmgornell.wordpress.com/

and

Lorna Collins who is also a good friend. http://Lornacollins-author.blogspot.com/ We've spent time together at several Epicons and hubby and I visited her and her husband at their beautiful home one weekend.

and

Mary Welk who I met in person at Mayhem in the Midlands in Omaha and spent time with at Malice and then Love is Murder in snowy Chicago.  Cicero's Children On her blog she gives weekly editing tips.

and

Marja McGraw another delightful mystery author and friend--we've been here and there together chatting and selling our books. http://marjamcgraw.com/

At the last minute, I lost one of my nominees, so I'll have to go with four.

And now to answer some Maryann's questions.

1. How long do you spend putting together a blog?

Depends upon what I'm doing. A guest post might take a bit longer than one I write myself. Post a review takes only a little time because I write the review and then post it.

2. What other writing do you do?

My two series, of course. I also write program designs for people wanting to open new residential care facilities and that's what I ought to be doing right now.

3. Do you blog because you like to, or because you were told you have to by a publisher?

Neither of my publishers ever told me to have a blog. I started blogging because I thought it was fun and another way to promote my books--now I promote lots of authors books as well as my own, plus share some writing tips, and bits and pieces of my life.

4. What is a story your family likes to tell about you?

There are far too many. Though I haven't been on this planet as long as Maryann thought, I've been around a long, long time. I must confess that I use a lot of stories about me and my family and my friends in my mysteries, though I do change them around.

5. When you visit another blog, do you promote it on social media?

When  visit another blog I always push the Like button and do the sharing that is available on that blog. On mine you can share on Facebook and Twitter.

Here are my five questions:

1. What are your writing goals?

2. Are there some other goals that you have--such as something on you bucket list that I'd be surprised about.

3. What is the hardest thing about the writing life?

4. Do you enjoy blogging? Why or why not?

5. What are you working on right now? Besides answering my questions.
