Spirit Shapes Cover and Plans for Promotion

Isn't this cover wonderful? The artist, Ana Winson, said the light wolf represents good and the dark wolf represents evil. And the spirit in the middle--well you'll just have to read the book to find out. Ana has done all my latest covers--you can tell because they all contain some sort of Indian symbolism.

Of course now I'm in the major planning stages for the promotion of this book.

What has taken up a lot of time is planning the blog tour which will begin on September 30th and end on October 31st, if all goes well. (More about that on a future blog.)

I have a contest to go along with the tour to have someone's name be used as a character in the next Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery. The winner of the last one was Lorna Collins and she is a ghost hunter in Spirit Shapes.

I've ordered magnetic decals for the car--not sure they do any good, but I think they are fun. Makes it easy to find my car.

I also ordered 500 business cards with the cover on one side and information on the other. I'll be handing them out wherever I go.

Once the books are printed, I'll order plenty and if they come in time, I'll sell the first ones at our family reunion the last weekend in September.

October is filled with events--the biggest being Woodstock in Portland. I will not be actively promoting Spirit Shapes because I'm working at Oak Tree Press's booth. There I'll be promoting my Rocky Bluff P.D. titles and have plenty of business cards to hand out.

On October 11th, I'm going to be speaking at a private club in Porterville. I went there once when I had my first book published. Should be fun.

On Saturday, the 12th, I'm joining 5 other mystery authors at The Book Barn, 640 Clovis Ave., Clovis, from 12 to 4.

On Saturday, the 19th, I'll have a booth at Taste of the Arts in Visalia from 10 to 4.

On Monday, October 21st, I'm going to the annual meeting of CRSA and I always take my latest book there.

On Friday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. I'm having a book signing at Branches Books and Gifts, 40282 Highway 41, Ste 14 in Oakhurst. (Pray for the weather to hold--it's located way up on the mountains.)

I haven't done it yet, but I need to set up a signing in Books Off Main.

And that's it until I find out when the Christmas Boutique the Porterville Art Association will be holding.

Anyone who'd like me to come and give a presentation, email me: mmeredith@ocsnet.net

Marilyn, I love all the covers in that series! Ana does a tremendous job.

Best wishes with promotion. You absolutely take my breath away with everything you do. Wish I could be at Wordstock.

Thanks, Marja. I love the covers too. As you know, promotion is a lot of hard work. Wordstock should be interesting, wish you could join us.
I love the cover for "Spirit Shapes," Marilyn. Sounds like you've got a hectic schedule the next couple of months. I'm looking forward to your post on my blog on October 27th.
Thanks, Patricia. I've made up my mind I'm going to keep doing all this stuff until I can't.
