The Last Malone Mystery by Patricia Gligor

As I typed the title of this post, I have to admit to feeling a little sad. For several reasons, I made the decision a few months ago to end my Malone mystery series with the fifth book, Marnie Malone. I already miss my characters because I’ve spent many, many years in their world and, to me, they’re almost real.

I got the idea for the first book, Mixed Messages, in 1995 when I was going for a walk and spotted an old Victorian. From that moment on, the book and the characters were always on my mind. I began to jot down notes and eventually created a chapter-by-chapter outline of what needed to be included in each chapter. Of course, as I wrote the book, that changed many times. Seventeen years after taking that walk, Mixed Messages was published!

I originally intended Mixed Messages to be a standalone mystery/suspense novel. Instead, it turned into a five book series. My characters had so much more to offer me (and hopefully my readers) than what could be told in a single book. So, I went on to write Unfinished Business, Desperate Deeds, Mistaken Identity and my new release, Marnie Malone.

Although I’ve ended my series and started writing a standalone suspense novel, it’s entirely possible that one day I’ll return to visit with the Malone family. Because I try to never say “never.” In life, and in writing, you just never know what the future will bring.

I hope you enjoy reading my Malone mystery series as much as I enjoyed writing it. Here’s the link to my amazon author’s page: http://tinyurl.com/8sd2cz4

Blurb for Marnie Malone:

Someone is stalking Marnie.

It’s Marnie’s last week at the law firm of Cliburn & Reeves and she feels like she’s riding an emotional roller coaster. Up when she wins the divorce and custody battle for Callie Jackson against her abusive husband, Jed. And plummeting down when one witness after another decides not to testify against Mark Hall, an attorney at another Charleston firm and an “alleged” serial rapist.
Marnie receives one threat after another and she constantly feels the need to look over her shoulder, convinced that someone is stalking her. With Sam out of town on business, she’s alone in the big, old farmhouse and strange things are happening. Noises in the attic, creaking floorboards and someone watching her from the woods.

As she tries to determine the identity of the stalker, the list of men who have grudges against her grows longer each day. In her line of work she’s made enemies. Is the stalker someone from the past or one of the men on her list? And, how far will he go?

Bio: Patricia Gligor is a Cincinnati native. She enjoys reading mystery/suspense novels, touring and photographing old houses and traveling. She has worked as an administrative assistant, the sole proprietor of a resume writing service and the manager of a sporting goods department but her passion has always been writing fiction.

Ms. Gligor writes the Malone Mystery series. The first three books, Mixed Messages, Unfinished Business and Desperate Deeds, take place in Cincinnati. The last two books, Mistaken Identity and Marnie Malone, are set in South Carolina.

I've read the entire series and enjoyed it immensely. I can't wait to see what you do with a standalone, although I'll miss the characters from the series.
Thanks, Marja. I'm already missing my Malone characters BUT I'm having fun getting to know the characters in my WIP.

Sorry to hear the series is ending. Glad that the door is open for a future book if the spirit moves you.
Thanks for stopping by, Terell. As I work on my new book, I can't help but wonder if it too will turn into a series. After all, Mixed Messages was supposed to be a standalone. I guess time will tell.

You may well incorporate your MM characters into your future books. Give them "visitation" rights!
Maggie,
Thanks for stopping by!
That's a good idea but it won't work in this case. It's time to move on to something totally different - at least for now. :)
