If you are unfamiliar with the series here is an overview:

The Deputy Tempe Crabtree series

Deputy Tempe Crabtree is the resident deputy of the small mountain community of Bear Creek and the surrounding area. Because she is part of the Yokut tribe, she is often called to help investigate crimes on the nearby Indian reservation. Tempe is married to a Christian pastor who worries about her soul when she uses native mysticism to aid in solving crimes.
One of her most interesting cases on the reservation introduced her to the legendary Hairy Man, much like Big Foot, as well as the many spirits that linger in the painted rock shelter where pictographs of him and his family can be seen. (Dispel the Mist) The Hairy Man makes appearances in other books in the series.

When ghost hunters find a dead body in an abandoned house in Spirit Shapes, Tempe is first on the scene. When she steps inside, so many ghosts and evil spirits confront her, she’s almost overwhelmed. While the detectives are working on the murder case, Tempe and her husband help the troubled ghost of a young girl find peace, and nearly lose their lives to the murderers.
In Seldom Traveled the tranquility of the mountain community of Bear Creek is disrupted by a runaway fugitive, a vicious murderer, and a raging forest fire. Deputy Tempe Crabtree is threatened by all three. An eagle becomes her ally.

After interviewing the female resident deputy of the area the author, Marilyn Meredith lived in, going on a ride-along with the only female police officer in the nearby town, and becoming friends with a native woman who grew up on the nearby reservation, all three women became the inspiration for her heroine, Deputy Tempe Crabtree.

Published by Mundania Press, there are 17 books in the series.
