Years ago I worked in a couple of day care centers where not was all as it should be. The program for the children was great, but in two cases things happened that spurred the main idea for this book.

And yes, I once lived in a beach community, not exactly like Rocky Bluff, but at the time it was small as was the police department. I've drawn a lot on my experiences living in that place and what I know about the police department.

Today is My Birthday!

I never thought I'd live this long! The last few years, birthday celebrations have usually been a nice dinner out in a restaurant. Hard to do these days. Sometimes cake and ice cream is how we celebrate. This year my granddaughter, Melissa, is doing something special. She's taking her grandpa and me to a place about 1 1/2 hours away for lunch, called The Secret Garden. I've not only never been there, but I've never heard of it. I took a peek on the Internet and it looks like a beautiful place to celebrate most anything. Yes, I'm excited. I'll take pictures and report on it when I get back. Melissa is special. Everyone loves here, young and old alike. I was in the delivery room when she was born--exciting and wonderous. I babysat her many times until her mom and dad moved to Central California.
