A KILLER CARNIVAL Jeannette de Beauvoir

This book was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought it would be a typical amusing cozy, especially since the heroine is a wedding planner. Oh yes, the story is set in a small town, Provincetown,  Massachusetts and his the usual collection of odd characters. However, this story didn't live up to my expectations--instead it soared way beyond them.

The author, Jeannette de Beauvoir, tackles all kinds of problematic issues going on in our world today spotlighting them in the confines of Provincetown.

The heroine, Sydney Riley, besides her usual wedding planning duties, has designed a float for the annual Carnival Parade. She is trying to depict all different cultural monuments.Carnival time in Provincetown attract even more unusual types than those who already inhabit the area.

While in the midst of this busy time, her significant other, the most handsome Ali, a Muslim and ICE agent, announces his sister, also Muslim and a police chief has chosen this week to vacation in Provincetown.

Along with this news, Sydney's asked by the town doctor to make it possible for she and her girlfriend to be married on the float during the parade.

One problem after another arises, but everything escalates when in the early morning hours before the parade, the newly decorated float explodes.

From there on it's a wild ride: death threats, crooked cops, dirty politics, disappearances, and kidnappings. And  yes, plenty of surprises.

Definitely recommended.
