Scary Things #7

I've thought of these at odd times, so they really aren't in the correct order.

Besides being scary, this is funny too.

This one was when we lived in Oxnard and we had five kids. Hubby was out of the Navy by this time, I think.

He wasn't one to wear p.j.s or anything else to bed. (Important to the story.)

Sometime in the night, Lisa, who was a teenager, came into our room and said, "Mom, Dad, there's someone on the roof! (Sure enough, we could hear someone walking around up there.)

Hubby jumped out of bed and ran through the house and into the screened porch and grabbed an ax on his way--this is what he told us afterwards.

He'd  left a ladder on the patio propped against the outside wall and used it to climb on the roof. Yes, there was a guy up there. Hubby chased him waving the ax and shouting. (We could hear this.)

The intruder ran away and leaped off the roof and dashed down the street.

Lisa and I couldn't help laughing at what a sight that must've been.

No, the man was never caught, I don't think we bothered to call the police--and it's a good thing no one else did while my nude husband ran across the roof brandishing an ax.

That is funny on top of being scary -- and a picture of Hap that's going to be hard to get out of my mind! (smile) The main thing I've taken from all your "scary things" is what a lovely family you have.

I'll bet it was doubly scary for that would-be burglar. Like I said, Marilyn, you need to put all these into an anthology. They're great.

Poor Santa Claus, I hope he was able to come back later.
Love your comments folk. Lisa and I laughed the whole time it was going on--a bit on the hysterical side. She was a young teen at the time.

Yes, this was truly funny. :) At least you can look back at these moments and use them to entertain us, and maybe laugh at them.

Oh, my. Almost too funny to be scary. Didn't your husband learn not to run with sharp objects, especially in the nude?
He was much, much younger at the time.
