Thanksgiving Aftermath

For the last three years we'd been spoiled by having Thanksgiving provided for us by grandson's father-in-law, a Master Chef. Grandson and his wife provided the setting, tents set up on their property shielding tables and chairs from the elements. (And they needed to be shielded two years in a row when it poured.)

Besides relatives, many of our host and hostesses friends were invited. The food was plentiful and delicious, desserts brought by guests. 

This year we had to go back to the old ways of cooking our own Thanksgiving, partly because of the virus, but mostly because my grandson and his wife brought a new daughter into this world only a few days ago. We did fine, turkey is easy and we had the usual for us side dishes: mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, Hawaiian sweet rolls, salads, and plenty of pies. 

We are thankful for having a home for all of us, plenty of food, and people who love us. 

Another difference, we had a much smaller group, not because of the virus, but because grandkids and their families all went elsewhere, leaving us with 11 this year. 

Thanksgiving past have been remembered, when I was growing up, Thanksgiving at my grandparents' and at our own house. Thanksgiving after I was married, sometimes at my folks', and many times at our house. I've cooked many a Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed even more. 

Today we are putting up Christmas decorations. We have lots of help with three little girls in the house, which makes it a fun time.
